Founded in 2020 by tech industry veterans Fitch Richardson, Willem Rowies, and Fehed Said, Humans.id emerged from a shared and simple ambition to make recruitment better. Each founder brought over two decades of expertise from the technology industry and were united by a belief that the recruitment industry could and should be better.

Recruiting can be better

Effective hiring is strategically critical for every business and yet as an industry it’s archaic, ineffective and all too often inequitable. Traditional hiring models, heavily reliant on CVs and resumes, frequently overlook extraordinary talent and candidates. This is a disaster for both the candidate and the employer. Candidates also often face a dehumanizing experience that treats them as commodities – frequently ghosted by recruiters and left without any feedback.

Human beings not human capital

Driven by a human-centric approach to recruitment that believes candidates are ‘human beings, not human capital’ Fitch, Willem and Fehed set about creating a scalable technology product that was able to fully embrace the human component of hiring whilst at the same time creating something that was super efficient and effective.

In order to ‘cut their teeth’ in the recruitment industry they gaining firsthand experience working as freelance tech recruiters for startups and agencies across Europe.

It was a baptism of fire that collectively left them with an enormous and unexpected respect for the work that good recruiters do day in day out.

Effective recruiting is hard

Recruiting and candidate sourcing is hard. The recruitment funnel is enormous; for each CV or resume that a recruiter submits to an employer they’ve probably reviewed 1000 candidates, reached out to 250, spoken to 30 and negotiated with 5. There is nothing easy about being a recruiter.

Over time, Fitch, Willem and Fehed developed a reliable process and cadence that consistently delivered high quality qualified candidates to their clients. As they matured as recruiters, learnt the tactics and techniques of great recruiting they began to automate and codify their expertise into a simple, powerful sourcing tool.
